In this interactive presentation, participants will discuss the research-based advantages of learning-centered teaching over instructor-centered, information dissemination teaching. Those who attend will learn how and why to use learning-centered approaches in a variety of teaching and disciplinary contexts. Participants will also learn how and why to adopt new roles as an instructor that will help students learn more and take greater responsibility for their own learning. Pedagogical and assessment strategies will be explored that foster such student responsibility.
