At its most basic level, the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) can be thought of as the systematic study of teaching and learning; it involves asking a question, gathering evidence, drawing conclusions based on that evidence, and making those findings public for the benefit of others. The purpose of this workshop series is to help faculty and graduate students get started with SoTL research. In this session, participants will determine what types of data they will need to answer their research questions, select appropriate methods of analysis, and make preparations for submitting an application to the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board. Participants are encouraged to attend both parts of this hands-on workshop sequence.
